John W. Sherwood, MA Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who Executive, Professional and Entrepreneurial Registry
He is a recipient of the Department of Mental Retardation (DMR) Commission Award for Excellence.

BOSTON, MA, September 26, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John W. Sherwood, Information Technology Director for the Department of Mental Health, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of information technology.

With more than 16 years of professional experience in Information Technologies, Mr. Sherwood combines working in evaluation research methods and is responsible for overseeing daily information technology operations, Technical employee performance and Network performance. He is a recipient of the Department of Mental Retardation (DMR) Commission Award for Excellence in 1994 for his consulting firms' study of why Haitians do not seek services from DMR. He received the T. Scott Miyakawa Book Award as the outstanding Sociology Major at U-Mass - Boston. He is a member of Alpha Kappa Delta (International Sociology Honor Society). He was listed on the National Dean's List all four years he attended college. Mr. Sherwood was presented with official citations from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts State Senate, and the Massachusetts House of Representatives for his work for the Department of Mental Health. He attributes his success to his competitive attitude, self-motivation and to the support he received from his mother and his siblings.

Mr. Sherwood received his Master's Degree in Applied Sociology with a concentration in "Evaluation Research Methods" as well as Criminology from the University of Massachusetts, Boston in 1987 and his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts, in 1984. He volunteers with the Greater Boston Food Bank, Friends of DMH Metro Boston and the Pine Street Inn Shelter. In the future, he hopes to establish his own consulting firm.
