With over 41 years of professional experience in both academic and the industrial setting, Dr. Morton specializes in laboratory animal-based research resource, design, management and development. He is responsible for vaccine development using nonhuman primates, supervising research-based breeding programs, and has consulted nationally and internationally in both academic and industrial settings for NIH, India, China, Indonesia, Singapore and Russia for university programs and corporate interests.
In 1967, Dr. Morton received his VMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Laboratory Animal Sciences as well as the Society of Toxicology. He has served on numerous committees and advisory boards pertaining to use of primates in research including ILAR and the National Advisory Research Resources Council of the National Center for Research Resources NIH as well as currently for the Wisconsin National Primate Research Center External Advisory Board. He was the former Director of the University of Washington National Primate Research Center where he also served as Professor, Department of Comparative Medicine, School of Medicine.
