Extragalactic Astronomy and Cosmology Specialist with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Arkansas Space Center

LITTLE ROCK, AR, December 23, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Marc Seigar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Adjunct Professor at the University of Arkansas Space Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of astronomy and cosmology research and education.

Dr. Seigar has 10 years of professional experience and specializes in extragalactic astronomy and cosmology. His research is focused on the structure, morphology and dynamics of spiral galaxies and their dark matter halos. Prior to joining the University of Arkansas, he taught introductory astronomy at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, general physics at Imperial College and astrophysics at Liverpool John Moores University. A decorated award winner, Dr. Seigar was the recipient of the Gary McCue Fellowship in 2006-2007, the Volunteer of the Year Award and the Most Dedicated Volunteer Award from the Mauna Kea Visitor Information Station in 2003 and 2004.

Hard work and passion for his profession are the driving forces behind Dr. Seigar's success. He received his Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Liverpool John Moores University, his Master of Science in Radio Astronomy from the University of Manchester and his Bachelor of Science in Physics from Imperial College. He is an Associate of the Royal College of Science and is a member of the American Astronomical Society and the International Astronomical Union.
