Broward County Science Fair 2008 - Budding Sagemont Scientists
This year at the Broward County Science Fair, The Sagemont School received (2) Best in Show (top honors) among its middle school student entries. In addition, the school received (4) 1st place honors.

WESTON, FL February 10, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- "This year the science fair had a steep increase in entries over past years" said, Debbie Rotter, Educational Programs Director for the Broward County Fair. Rotter has been with the fair for the past 31 years starting as a child volunteer. The judges for the science fair are college professors and others in the field of science. Sagemont science instructors Emily Wertman and Jessica Lanzetta worked with their students on selecting topics that they would be passionate about. The school produced over 200 total entries and they held their own in-house competition. Sagemont then sent their 12 top entries on to the competition at the fair.

Sagemont Middle School Winners Were:
Daniela Camacho - 6th grade (1st place and Best In Show) Project Title:"How do Increased CO2 Levels Affect Plant Growth"

Katherine Ackermann-6th grade (1st place and Best In Show) Project Title: "Tap Water VS Bottled Water"

Michael Hegy- 8th grade (1st place) Project Title: " Electro Culture. The electric tickle"

Cristina Quintero -8th Grade (1st place) Project Title: "Should Water Wash Out Soil."
