Bruce J. West Recognized for Excellence in Mathematics
Bruce J. West uses his prodigious mathematical skills to assist the United States Army

DURHAM, NC, July 10, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bruce J. West, Chief Mathematical Scientist of the United States Army Research Laboratory, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in mathematics.

Bruce J. West has been the Chief Mathematical Scientist of the United States Army Research Laboratory for 10 years. In that time, his main responsibility has been identifying and researching new areas of mathematics. Though he is proficient in most forms of mathematics, Mr. West's expertise is in non-equilibrium statistical physics and network science.

He received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Rochester, his Master of Science in Physics from the University of Rochester, and his Bachelor of Arts in Physics from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a member of The New York Academy of Sciences, the American Physical Society, The American Physiological Society, the American Geophysical Union, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Mr. West received a black belt in Judo. He published his book, entitled 'Where Medicine Went Wrong,' in 2006.
