Karen J. Houggy derives fulfillment from making life easier for cancer patients and their families

GUILFORD, CT, May 06, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Karen J. Houggy, Senior Clinical Trial Manager for Exelixis, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in clinical research.

With 15 years of professional experience, Karen J. Houggy is considered an expert in clinical trial management and business administration. In 2008, she brought her talents to Exelixis, a biotechnology company that specializes in small molecule drugs for the treatment of cancer and various metabolic and cardiovascular disorders. Assigned primarily to the department of clinical operations, Ms. Houggy is entrusted with a myriad of responsibilities. This includes overseeing oncology clinical trials, reviewing protocols and data, collaborating with clinical research organizations, coordinating and making presentations at investigator meetings, conducting operational training at site initiation meetings, tracking study trends and issues, and generating study plans and timelines.

Ms. Houggy earned her bachelor of general studies, with a concentration in human services, in 2009 from the University of Connecticut. She also obtained an associate of science in business administration, with honors, in 1998 from Three Rivers Community College. She is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. Ms. Houggy derives personal fulfillment from doing work that contributes to human development and makes life easier for cancer patients and their families.
