Joyce Hewett Thompson oversees the science department at First Flight Middle School of Dare County Schools

KILL DEVIL HILLS, NC, March 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Joyce Hewett Thompson, Educator and Chairwoman of the Science Department at First Flight Middle School of Dare County Schools, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in educational services.

A dedicated educator, Joyce Hewett Thompson lends over 34 years of industry experience to First Flight Middle School in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Now celebrating her 21st year with the school, she excels in academic instruction and department oversight. Mrs. Thompson is responsible for ordering and processing all equipment for the science department as well as overseeing administrative duties and educating students. In addition to her charge at First Flight Middle School, she serves as an adjunct professor at the College of Albemarle, where she teaches evening classes.

Mrs. Thompson holds a master's degree from East Carolina University. As a student, she was selected as a graduate assistant - an experience of which she is especially proud. She earned a bachelor's degree from Atlantic Christian College. A certified mentor, she also holds an academically gifted teaching certificate. Mrs. Thompson maintains affiliation with the Professional Educators of North Carolina and is an active supporter of Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, the American Breast Cancer Foundation and various Native American foundations.
