Research Professional Develops Into The Ranks Of Stanford Who's Who
Lee Whittington has received the recognition of Stanford Who's Who as a result of his exceptional effort in the Research and Development Industry.

SASKATOON, SK, CANADA, June 4, 2010 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Lee Whittington has received the recognition of Stanford Who's Who as a result of his exceptional effort in the Research and Development Industry. As President and CEO of Prairie Swine Centre Inc. he has consistently displayed the vision, dedication and diligence required to be among the best.

Prairie Swine Centre Inc. is a nonprofit research and technology corporation with expertise in nutrition, engineering and animal behavior. The center is leading the institute through a process that redefines its role in the North American pork value chain, developing a business model that embraces the development of new knowledge with a cost-competitive business structure respected by the industry.

The mission of Prairie Swine Centre Inc. is "to be a Centre of Excellence in research, graduate education and technology transfer, all directed at efficient sustainable pork production." The development of original, practical research with a decidedly near market emphasis creates information to improve the financial position of pork producers by defining feeding and management systems that maximize net income. They also develop information to address issues and opportunities in environment and animal well-being.

As President and CEO Lee is responsible for implementing the corporation's strategic plan and overseeing the administration, funding and on-going research programs in Nutrition, Engineering and Applied Ethology, as well as guiding the graduate student education and technology transfer objectives of the Centre. In his previous position as Manager of Information Services for Prairie Swine Centre, Lee was responsible for all technical extension programs at the Centre as well as demonstration research projects.

Mr. Whittington is responsible for the management of the organization and overseeing the daily operations as well as funding, networking, relationship building and supervision of 50 staff members. During his educational career, Lee earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Guelph in 1979 and a MBA Degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1997.

Lee attributes his leadership success to his perseverance. He understands that the best solution for the business is not always the easiest and that being able to sell the idea persuasively and persistently will lead to success.

Lee is a member of the Canadian Society of Animal Science and American Association of Swine Veterinarians. He was the recipient of the Canadian Agri-Food Award for Excellence for Agriculture Awareness and Education in 2006 and the Animal Industries Award in Extension and Public Service from the Canadian Society of Animal Science in 2005. He also received the Industry Leadership Award from the Alberta pork industry in 2010. Mr. Whittington has performed numerous presentations and been part of various publications as well.
