Medical technologist Catheryn P. Hood provides important diagnostic results for medical treatment

SAN ANTONIO, TX, August 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Catheryn P. Hood, Medical Technologist for Quest Diagnostics, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of laboratory science.

With nearly 30 years of professional experience in the sciences, Catheryn P. Hood lends her extensive industry know-how to Quest Diagnostics, Inc. as a medical technologist. Best noted for her ability to properly organize and supervise the laboratory, Ms. Hood utilizes her background in biology and chemistry to run lab tests, handle specimens, operate diagnostic equipment and perform microscopic work. In addition to her hands-on work with medical specimens, she performs administrative tasks including data documentation and takes photos of interesting cases on blood smears and urine concentrates.

During her January interview with Cambridge Who's Who, Ms. Hood recalled being drawn to the field of laboratory science because it enabled her to work in the medical field without direct exposure to patients. She enjoys working "behind the scenes" to provide important diagnostic results, which play an instrumental role in patient treatment. Looking ahead, Ms. Hood intends to continue growing professionally in the field of medical diagnostics.

A graduate of the University of the Incarnate Word, Ms. Hood earned a bachelor's degree in biology, with a minor in chemistry, in 1981. She attended the School of Medical Technology at Santa Rosa Hospital from 1981 to 1982. She is professionally affiliated with the American Society of Clinical Pathology and is an active supporter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
