Gerald E. Saunders Honored for Excellence in Education
Mr. Saunders, who has 15 years of experience as an educator, teaches science, mathematics, and entrepreneurship
Washington, DC, November 29, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gerald E. Saunders Jr., Educator for Logos Corporate Schools (LCS), has been recognized by Cambridge's Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.
At LCS, a startup charter organization, Mr. Saunders is one of the many dedicated educators guiding students toward their entrepreneurial goals. Mr. Saunders began his entrepreneurial career with Electronic Messaging Association where he was a top marketing and sales person to Fortune 500 CEOs with the prototype of email.
Moreover, his career spans several disciplines. At EPA's HERL facility Research Triangle Park, Mr. Saunders began his biomedical research career assisting research on cancer. As a medical writer and contractor with the National Institutes of Health, he played an important role in clinical trials. In 1986, Mr. Saunders coauthored the decennial technical bulletin on Drugs and Pregnancy from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
At Johns Hopkins University Hospital, Mr. Saunders helped to save lives in the OR as an anesthesiology tech. At Georgetown School of Medicine, and George Washington School of Medicine he assisted research on diabetes. Mr. Saunders conducted research on neurotoxicology and environmental exposure at Neurology Services as well as pharmaceuticals.
At National Cooperative Bank, Mr. Saunders was assistant to the Bank President and managed the day to day operations of the front office. As office manager of Stanford University's Washington, DC office, he placed students in internships and advised them on career placement. In 2006, he led an after-school program for at-risk students to prepare them for standardized testing, college, and Rights-to-Passage.
In addition, he has gained valuable management skills while working at the Congressional Research Service and making history at the U.S. Supreme Court Library. At the Department of Labor, he traveled the country auditing the Targeted Jobs Tax Credit (TJTC) and Comprehensive Employment Tax Act (CETA) programs. He is an expert in research analysis, and organizational leadership.
Equipped with 15 years of teaching experience, Mr. Saunders is a master educator within the STEM curriculum, certified in science and math. At DC Public Schools, he played important roles as chairman for Accreditation, lead teacher in standardized testing, and coordinator of mentoring programs. He also sponsored winning student teams in engineering competition.
Mr. Saunders obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He has completed his master's degree coursework in biology with a concentration in biotechnology from the University of Arizona, Tucson. At University of Arizona, Department of Biochemistry, he conducted research on stem cells.
Moreover, he received an environmental science award from the University of Pennsylvania, an engineering certificate from Tuskegee University, and a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship at Princeton University. In addition, he is a member of the GSAS Harvard Biotechnology Club, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Phi Delta Kappa International, and ASCD.
Mr. Saunders is also dedicated to service to the community as an advocate, most recently in 2011, authoring articles in newspapers and conducting town hall meetings for disaster victims. He looks forward to continuing as an educator in the coming years and hopes to lead and provide for schools in need.
